Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical will be inviting the public to its stations over the next few months to share suggestions and learn more about how the department works.

The department announced that it will be holding a series of open houses at each of its five stations. The first one is Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Station 4, 2121 Wakarusa Drive, and four more are scheduled in October and November.

“These scheduled events are an opportunity to meet our members, tour our stations, learn more about LDCFM, and share your feedback with us,” a Facebook post from LDCFM read.

Below are the other four stations’ open house dates. All of them are on Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m.:

• Oct. 10: Station 3, 3708 W. Sixth St.

• Oct. 24: Station 5, 1911 Stewart Ave.

• Nov. 7: Station 2, 2128 Harper St.

• Nov. 21: Station 1, 746 Kentucky St.

LDCFM has also been collecting public input through a survey as part of its 2027-28 strategic planning process. Respondents can rate the department’s services in several areas and write in their opinions about what the department could do to serve the community better.
