The Lawrence Public Library will be closed for the rest of Thursday due to unplanned maintenance as a result of a power outage.

The library announced on social media Thursday morning that it was closed due to an “unexpected power outage,” but it had hoped to open later in the day.

Just before noon, Bec Trickey, the marking and communications specialist for the library told the Journal-World in a statement that the library will remain closed for all of Thursday.

Trickey said the library hopes to reopen tomorrow once the power is restored and its “facilities are back in working order.”
