Kids run after the ball during last year's "Little Firebirds" soccer clinic hosted by Free State High School's soccer program.

Free State High School’s boys soccer teams will soon be hosting a free clinic that typically draws hundreds of kids from throughout the community.

The soccer program is hosting its “Little Firebird” clinic on Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the high school’s soccer field, behind the school at 4700 Overland Drive. Kids from kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible to attend and learn about the sport from members of the high school program. Registration is open now and limited to 250 participants. Participants who pre-register receive a free shirt and a guaranteed spot in the clinic. No walk-up registrations will be accepted.

Though the event is free, the evening will also include a silent auction, raffle drawings and concessions sales. Organizers also encourage cash donations to the soccer program the night of the event.

Kids who attend should bring their own soccer ball, water bottle and shin guards; each item should be labeled with their name. People with questions about the event can email lilfirebirdssoccerclinic@gmail.com
