In this file photo from Jan. 18, 2016, a Lawrence Transit System bus stops just south of Seventh and Vermont streets.

Lawrence Transit will provide free bus service on Nov. 5 for Election Day.

Jessica Mortinger, interim transit manager, said in a news release that removing the barrier of transit fares would provide even more opportunity for people to make their way to the polls on Election Day.

The release reminds voters that they can verify their polling place on the Douglas County website, douglascountyks.org. Voters can get help planning their bus route or get more information about the Lawrence Transit service on its website, lawrencetransit.org, on its Facebook page or by calling 785-864-4644.
