All activities at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park have been canceled Wednesday after a fire was reported in the basement of Regnier Hall.

KU spokeswoman Erinn Barcomb-Peterson said the fire was reported at 3:05 p.m. An emergency alert was sent to the university community shortly after that, asking for the campus to be evacuated.

“First responders arrived quickly, there were no injuries and the campus is anticipating property damage will be minimal,” Barcomb-Peterson said in an email.

The building opened in 2004 as part of an $8 million, 82,000-square-foot expansion to the campus. The building features 21 classrooms, a 240-seat auditorium and offices for 45 faculty members, according to a KU news release from when it opened in August.
