Police recover items from Woodlawn School break-in
Police were called to Woodlawn School at 6:30 a.m. Sunday when it was discovered that someone had broken into a music trailer. A news release from the school district early Sunday afternoon said that police caught the person responsible for the break-in and recovered all materials and equipment.
Sunday’s police report was one of four that Lawrence school district officials have had to file in as many days in response to incidents at various schools.
On Friday, officials at Lawrence High School filed a police report regarding two sophomore male students who were caught fighting. The school suspended both students in accordance with school board policy and notified their parents.
On Thursday, officials at South Junior High School filed a police report regarding an eighth-grade male student whose behavior was inappropriate for the school setting, according to the district’s news release. The school notified the student’s parent. No further information was available.
Southwest Junior High School officials also filed a police report through the school resource officer on Thursday, after an eighth-grade male student stole money from another student. In a related incident, another male student brought a pocketknife to school to sell to the student whose money was taken. The school suspended the eighth-grader and the student who brought the pocketknife to school. Both sets of parents also were notified.
