KPR names four new members to advisory board

Four new members have been appointed to the Kansas Public Radio Advisory Board. The board offers advice on station promotion and improving listenership, among other duties.

Appointed to the board by Kansas University Chancellor Robert Hemenway were:

  • Vickie Randel, Lawrence, president of First State Bank and Trust in Lawrence and a longtime volunteer for KPR membership drives.
  • Mike Matson, Manhattan, communications director for the Kansas Farm Bureau. Matson, press secretary for former Gov. Bill Graves, was a frequent on-air guest during KPR fund drives.
  • Teresa Williams, Manhattan, who works in Kansas State University’s athletics department and is involved in Manhattan’s arts community.
  • Tom Doyle, Mission Hills, a KANU staff member in the 1960s and early 1970s and owner and chief executive of Nuvidia in Overland Park.

The board now has 16 members, including current members Roy and Bev Menninger, both co-chairs from Topeka; Brock Kretsinger of Emporia; James Sunderland of Leawood; Richard and Barbara Meidinger of Auburn; David Porterfield of Topeka; Bob Georgeson of Lawrence; Hank Booth of Lawrence; Karen Craig of Topeka; Wendall Anschutz of Overland Park; and Bill Kurtis of Chicago.

Kansas Public Radio, licensed to Kansas University, broadcasts in the Lawrence area on KANU 91.5-FM.
