Break-in at Hurst Diamonds: door and jewelry case smashed
Police are investigating a break-in at a Lawrence jewelry store Wednesday after responding to an alarm at the business and finding the front door smashed.
Around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an automated alarm at Hurst Diamonds, 520 W. 23rd St., Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman Kim Murphree said. Upon arrival, an officer noted the front door was smashed in and a glass jewelry display case inside was shattered.
Several jewelry items were stolen in the incident, Murphree said, and detectives processed the scene. A damage and loss estimate was not immediately available.
The investigation is ongoing.
