Tickets go on sale Saturday for this year’s Symphony in the Flint Hills, which — in a departure from years past — will be performed amid the historic buildings of Fort Riley instead of a remote prairie.

General admission tickets are $75 for adults and $43 for children under 12 and can be purchased online at kcsymphony.org or by phone at 816-471-0400. Premium packages are available by calling 620-273-8955. The event has sold out each year since its debut in 2006.

This year’s sunset concert, performed by the Kansas City Symphony, is set for June 15 on Fort Riley’s Historic Main Post. Gates open at 1 p.m., and there will be activities until the 90-minute concert begins at 6:45 p.m. For details, see symphonyintheflinthills.org.

“This unique setting will allow concertgoers to experience an often-unseen portion of Kansas’ majestic Flint Hills — the historic Fort Riley buildings and parade grounds,” Marty White, Symphony in the Flint Hills board chairwoman, said in a news release. “The dramatic surroundings of Fort Riley are sure to add an extra dimension to an already dramatic event.”
