The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to one fatality accident, resulting in one death, during the New Year’s holiday from Dec. 28 to Jan. 1, according to a news release issued by the KHP.
The fatal accident was not alcohol-related. In a similar time period last year, a single fatality accident was also reported.
The KHP responded to seven alcohol-related crashes, made 17 drunken-driving arrests, wrote 833 speeding tickets, issued 730 speed warnings and stopped to assist 1,281 motorists.
