Two hospitalized in separate Jefferson County accidents Sunday

Two men were hospitalized after separate single-vehicle accidents on U.S. Highway 24 Sunday in Jefferson County, according to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Here’s a recap of each accident:

• At 2 a.m., an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by Oskaloosa resident Adam Michel Bower, 25, “drifted into the opposite lane and entered the north ditch” on U.S. 24 at mile marker 385. Bower was ejected from the truck, and was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka where he was listed in fair condition Monday morning.

• At 7 a.m., an eastbound semitrailer driven by Kansas City, Mo., resident Danny Michael Milakovich, 58, lost control, hitting a bridge and guardrail, at mile marker 374. The truck overturned, and Milakovich was also taken to Stormont-Vail, where he was treated and released.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, and the reports did not indicate whether alcohol was a factor in the accidents.
