City crews repaired an 8-inch water main near 19th and Delaware streets that contractors broke about 10:30 a.m. Monday.
According to a city news release, water service to 37 homes and two businesses was shut off but was expected to be restored by 5:30 p.m.
City crews will have to return Tuesday to replace a fire hydrant and repair the sidewalk, which buckled near the broken main, said Jeanette Klamm, utilities program manager for the city.
Klamm said the work is not expected to close traffic on either street.
