Lawrence man hired as president, executive officer of Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute

Wayne Carter, a Lawrence resident and vice president of global research for Hill’s Pet Nutrition, has been selected as the new president and chief executive officer for the Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute, according to a statement from the institute.

The organization supports economic development, research and advocacy efforts for the regional life sciences industry.

Carter has also worked for Pfizer, the world’s largest research-based pharmaceutical company for human and animal health drugs. He is vice chairman of KansasBio, a non-profit organization that promotes bioscience in Kansas, and serves on several advisory boards.

He will start in his new position on June 18.
