Kan. renegotiating 3M license contract

TOPEKA — Kansas plans to renegotiate its contract with the company that supplied the state with the new $40 million motor vehicle system that has drawn criticism from several county treasurer offices.

Kansas Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan said the state has a list of changes it wants made to the system before signing off on the contract, which was supposed to conclude Friday, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported. Jordan said 3M would be paying for any changes.

Kansas’ new system is intended to merge vehicle registrations and titles and eventually link to driver’s license records.
