Man suspected in Ottawa police chase arrested in Missouri

Ottawa police said a man suspected of leading officers on a chase last week was arrested last Friday in Riverside, Mo., after a separate pursuit involving police.

Lt. Adam Weingartner, a police spokesman, said the man was taken into custody in Platte County, Mo., after a chase involving a truck he stole in Ottawa. Weingartner said he was told that chase began in Leawood. Police in the Ottawa case have sent information to the Franklin County attorney’s office seeking an arrest warrant.

In the Ottawa chase, the man was suspected of running from police the night of June 4 in a vehicle stolen from Meriden, and after crashing into a house in Ottawa he stole a truck from the residents of the same property.

In a separate incident, Ottawa police arrested a 24-year-old Ottawa woman in the 100 block of West Third Street at 8:30 p.m. Monday on an aggravated battery charge after she was accused of striking someone in the head with a blunt object. The victim was treated for a laceration to the head and later released from Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Weingartner said. A 20-year-old Ottawa woman also was arrested for battery and accused of striking the same victim with her hand. The victim knew the two suspects.
