June 11, 2012

— Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is scheduled to address the closing banquet of a national anti-abortion group's convention later this month.

The National Right to Life Committee says Brownback will speak June 30, the final day of the three-day gathering in Arlington, Va.

Brownback had a strong anti-abortion voting record in the U.S. Senate.

As governor, he has signed measures tightening limits on late-term abortions, restricting private insurance coverage for elective abortions and imposing health and safety regulations specifically for abortion providers.

He has also signed bills to impose tougher parental consent rules when minors seek abortions and to deny funds to Planned Parenthood.

Quotes from Barry Goldwater:

"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them."

"I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in "A," "B," "C" and "D." Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me?"

"I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of "conservatism." "

"I think every good Christian ought to kick Falwell right in the ass."

The nanny-staters thrive on peeking into people's windows and private lives. Maybe it's time we began micro-manage their churches, scripture and private activities like they wish to do women's reproductive capabilities and organs.

Can't possibly approach the level and frequency of hatred coming off the (self-)Right(eous) every day...

I can feel the Hate gushing from the very essence of each member of the Party of Atheists! Should Brownie be afraid? Naw...not so much.

Brownback is the poster child for the religious right wingnut Republican philosophy of "If you're "pre-born" you're fine. If you're preschool, you're @#$%^&" .

You religious bigots are showing your intolerance again. Reading all these hate filled rants, one would think Gov. Brownback was doing something newsworthy like deliberately leaking classified national security information to bolster his re-election.

Our nutcase governor doing all he can to attract business to the state. Can you imagine a intelligent someone wanting to move to Kansas to set up a business when we have all these right-wing whackos trying to impose their religious dogma, creationist education and control of women's reproductive rights on the populus .I'm sure they are lining up now!

I'm sure the travel expenses for this out of state event will be on our dime.

Too bad the same care isn't given to the children living in poverty as it is to those who are not yet born.

Your big brother always knows what's best. A government employee will be right along to monitor your pregnancy and make sure you're being a fit mother-to-be.

I've never met anyone who wished their mother would have aborted them.

There is no zygote, no fetus; rather, from the point of conception, a continuously developing individual with the genetic complement, fragility, and potential of those self-deluded by such fictions.

Look how the crime stats dropped with Roe v Wade when those aborted fetus would have been 18. Can you imagine the crime we would have today with approx 40,000,000 unwanted children being born? Scary to think what it would be like today without Roe vs Wade.

Pro Life/Anti Abortion:

Birth control allows us to prevent pregnancy and plan the timing of pregnancy.

Need birth control? * My Method * Compare Effectiveness of Birth Control Options * Abstinence * Birth Control Implant (Implanon and Nexplanon) * Birth Control Patch (Ortho Evra) * Birth Control Pills * Birth Control Shot (Depo-Provera) * Birth Control Sponge (Today Sponge) * Birth Control Vaginal Ring (NuvaRing) * Breastfeeding as Birth Control * Cervical Cap (FemCap) * Condom * Diaphragm * Female Condom * Fertility Awareness-Based Methods (FAMs) * IUD * Morning-After Pill (Emergency Contraception) * Outercourse * Spermicide * Sterilization for Women * Vasectomy * Withdrawal (Pull Out Method)

People have used birth control methods for thousands of years. Today, we have many safe and effective birth control methods available to us.

All of us who need birth control want to find the method that is best for us. And each of us has different needs when choosing a method. If you are trying to choose, learning about each method may help you make your decision. Use the list of birth control methods above to read about the methods.

Only you can decide what is best for you. And we are here to help. A staff member at your local Planned Parenthood health center can discuss all of your birth control options with you and help you get the birth control you need.

Women of all ages, be on notice. Once you are pregnant your reproductive organs become the property of the state, and your sole purpose is to complacently fulfill your obligation to your nation. The men in power deem it so. And if you're not pregnant, why not?

"...... an appointment if Romney should happen to win....." Hey, the only plus I have ever heard if Romney wins the presidency. Poof, no more Slimeback.

0

verity 1 year, 10 months ago

I think that the more Brownback goes on the national stage like this, the less likely it is that he will ever get close to a nomination for president---or an appointment if Romney should happen to win.

That said, I wish someone would appoint him to something somewhere that would get him out of Kansas. Some office where he really couldn't do much harm. Am I wishing for too much?

Meanwhile, there's still only one logical way to reduce the number of abortions.

What the story doesn't tell you: After preaching his sermon, Magic Sam will return to Kansas with a briefcase full of signed commitments from titans of a dozen different industries... each committed to constructing no less than five factories, distribution centers, and customer service centers all over the state. The state's unemployment rate will drop to a little less than 2% by October, when all these places open up and put people back to work... just in time for that blessed first paycheck to pay for the Thanksgiving turkey.

And now you know... the rest of the story!

Doesn't Brownback have higher priorities than this right now? Kansas is in shambles and he is off speaking on his own personal beliefs and tying all Kansas to what he says. I am sure there is almost nothing that Brownback has to say that I agree with.

I thought it was called pro-life not anti-abortion. The AP's bias is showing. Do they call pro-choice rallies pro-abortion?

Don't all aborted babies go straight to heaven to be with the jesus? Or do they go straight to h3ll to be with Ronald Wilson Reagan?

This just in...The Howells, Ginger and The Professor have isolated themselves in the food pantry because they disagree with the opinions of The Skipper, Marianne and Gilligan. The Skipper decided to let them live out their last days in the confines of the food pantry...where supplies were running low. The Friday night cannibal feasts have been postponed indefinately as a result of the civil unrest. Tune in next time when Ginger announces that she has an audition with the Native Dance Company.

the U.S. Supreme Court has judged that safe abortion is legal in the United States, regardless of what religious zealots and wackos think or "believe".

Governer Brownbackwards is contributing to the advocacy of denying of legal and safe medical treatment to U.S. Citizens. This should be ample grounds for impeachment. But not in "bleeding Kansas".

0

Steven Gaudreau 1 year, 10 months ago

-According to the USDA, over 16 million children lived in food insecure (low food security and very low food security) households in 2010.

It would be nice if all the anti abortionist would use their time taking care of living and breathing children like the current 16,000,000 in the U.S. that need help.

Hoorah for Governor Brownshirt.

I'm sure this will create TONS of jobs in Kansas, and turn around the economic hole that the state is now in.

If we are predestined by god, wouldn't that mean that he planned for the abortion to happen, that it was part of his grand design?

0

Brownback is an embarrassment to Kansas. This bit of theatrics will just ensure that no job creators in their right minds will move to Kansas.

0

DeckDoctors 1 year, 10 months ago

I'm thankful our Governor is willing to defend the defenseless and weakest member of society. We have too many selfish people willing to kill an unborn child to carry on with a self centered existence.

Browny should not see a 'problem' with the 'Complex Intellectual Nuanced females' culling in this manner.

How ironic. The best reason for abortion is speaking at an anti-abortion convention.
