Gas leak briefly closes down highway in Manhattan

Manhattan — A gas leak caused a stretch of Kansas Highway 18 to be closed for about an hour in Manhattan.

Riley County Police Capt. Kurt Moldrup says the leak Tuesday occurred in an 8-inch line in southwest Manhattan. It also affected flights out of Manhattan Regional Airport until the situation was resolved.

KMAN reports the highway reopened about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Details about what caused the leak were not immediately available.
