— With the 2012 legislative session set to start Monday, several pre-session meetings are on tap.

The Douglas County legislative delegation will hear from area organizations about their needs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in the curriculum conference room of the Lawrence Public Schools Building, 110 McDonald Drive.

And on Monday, just hours before the start of the session, the public is invited to attend the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce legislative preview breakfast.

That will start at 7:30 a.m. at Maceli’s, 1031 N.H. Many of the Douglas County legislators are expected to attend.

Tickets are $20 for Chamber of Commerce members and $25 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased online at lawrencechamber.com no later than Thursday.

The Legislative Preview Breakfast is the first in a series of events designed to improve communication and exchange of information among the business community, residents and legislators. It will be followed by “Eggs & Issues” breakfasts featuring Kansas House and Senate leadership. The first two “Eggs & Issues” are scheduled for 8 a.m. Feb. 4 and March 3. Tickets are $15 for chamber members and $20 for non-members.
