Kansas sites added to historic places list

— Eight Kansas locations have been added to National Register of Historic Places, including a former railroad office building dating to 1910.

The Kansas Historical Society announced the new entries Thursday. They include the Motive Power Building, which was built by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad near its shops in Topeka.

Other sites added were the Horace Mann Elementary School in Kansas City, Kan.; Kansas City, Kan., High School gymnasium and laboratory; Winfield National Bank in Winfield; Church of the Holy Name in Topeka; the John C. Harmon House in Topeka; Rocky Ford School in Manhattan; and Peabody City Park, Peabody.
