Investigation of April 24 mobile home fire continues

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical workers are continuing to investigate the fire that caused a total loss to a mobile home at Gaslight Village, 1900 W. 31st St., about 5:30 a.m. April 24, said Division Chief James King, the department’s fire marshal.

The resident of the home was in Douglas County Jail when the fire broke out, and the home was unoccupied. Bounsouay Khanya, 21, had been arrested about eight hours earlier and was later charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction. He remained in jail Monday held on $8,000 bond, and a judge has scheduled his next hearing for May 22.
