67-year-old woman dies after Topeka fire
Topeka ? Topeka fire officials say a 67-year-old woman has died after a fire at her home.
Fire department spokesman Greg Bailey says Sharon McKay died after being pulled from her burning home early Monday.
Bailey says the fire started in a bedroom. The cause is being classified as undetermined and is likely accidental in nature.
He says a damage estimate was not available.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that at least five animals — dogs and cats — also died in the fire.
McKay is Topeka’s fifth fire-related fatality of 2011.
