Stuffed animal may have saved Kansas City couple’s lives
Kansas City, Kan. ? A Kansas City, Kan., couple say a stuffed animal possibly saved their lives after a rock thrown from an Interstate overpass crashed through their windshield.
Brian and Karen Smith and their teenage children were coming home from a Thanksgiving celebration in Weston, Mo., when a rock came through the windshield near an overpass on Interstate 635.
WDAF-TV reports Brian Smith was in the passenger seat when the rock came through and hit a stuffed dog on the dashboard, instead of him.
Karen Smith says everyone in the SUV was covered in glass when she pulled over to the side and called 911.
A firefighter who responded to the scene said he thought he was going to find someone dead because of the size of the hole in the windshield.
