The Douglas County register of deeds is inviting military personnel who live in Douglas County to file their discharge papers with the office.

There is no charge for the service. Veterans are encouraged to record their papers in the county where they reside for safekeeping.

Five copies are provided at no charge.

The register of deeds office is on the third floor of the Douglas County Courthouse at 11th and Massachusetts streets. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
