Southwest Kansas district to consolidate schools

? A southwest Kansas school district plans to consolidate its middle school and high school in an effort to save money.

Stanton County’s Board of Education approved the consolidation earlier this month, saying it would save the district about $150,000.

The district has 484 students from Big Bow, Johnson City and Manter.

The Garden City Telegram reported Thursday that the board decided to move the pre-kindergarten and a Community Learning Center into the middle school.

Superintendent Jit Milner says the consolidation will improve the district’s education system while also saving money.
