Lawrence police have arrested a 38-year-old Wichita man who is accused of inappropriately touching a 10-year-old girl in Lawrence on Sunday.
Sgt. Matt Sarna, a police spokesman, said the girl’s mother called officers Sunday and alleged the suspect, her boyfriend, had molested her daughter in a residence in the south central part of Lawrence. The girl had talked to her mother after the alleged incident occurred, Sarna said.
Police on Monday interviewed the suspect, and he was later arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail on one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
Sarna said Tuesday morning the child did not have any physical injuries and that officers were still investigating the case.
Cheryl Wright, a Douglas County district attorney’s office spokeswoman, said the man was expected to appear before a judge Tuesday afternoon after prosecutors file formal charges.

I'm glad that the girl told her mom and that the mom reported it. This kind of crap goes unreported too often.

Agreed. I've heard too many stories about mothers who side with the boyfriends/stepfathers.

As a family friend I can tell you the mother wanted to make sure she got all the help she could for her daughter! The girl is doing well and her mom is getting her the help she needs.
