Kansas attorney general takes Kingman fire fatality case

? The Kansas Attorney General’s Office said the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and local authorities have been investigating the death of a 34-year-old Kingman woman whose body was found after her home was destroyed by fire.

Vashti Seacat was found dead Saturday after the fire, which was reported by her husband, Brett Seacat. Brett Seacat and the couple’s two sons escaped the fire.

Jeff Wagaman, deputy chief of staff for the attorney general’s office, said the KBI has been assisting Kingman County authorities in the investigation. He also told The Hutchinson News that local authorities have asked the attorney general’s office to prosecute the case if charges are filed.

But he said no charges have been filed.
