— Police in Bonner Springs have taken over an investigation into the Tuesday night shooting of a 20-something Leavenworth County resident.

It’s not clear yet who shot the man or when the shooting occurred, but the incident happened in the 900 block of North 142nd Street.

“We’re still in the heart of the investigation,” said Bonner Springs police Lt. George Collins.

The man, whom police would not identify, was in stable condition at an area hospital, Collins said.

After the man was shot Tuesday evening, he was taken by three other men to his father’s home in Tonganoxie, according to Leavenworth County Undersheriff Ron Cranor. The father then took his son to the Leavenworth County Annex in Tonganoxie for medical attention. From there, he was taken by Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Services to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the right flank, which is between the ribs and hip, Tonganoxie Police Chief Jeff Brandau said.
