State legislators honor Vietnam veterans

Kansas legislators have adopted a resolution to honor Vietnam War veterans.

The action Wednesday coincides with the National Welcome Home observance approved by both chambers of Congress to veterans of the war.

Congress proclaimed that March 30 would be dedicated to recognizing veterans. On that day in 1973, the Treaty of Paris was signed to end the war.

The United States entered the war in 1961 by sending advisers to South Vietnam. More than 58,000 military personnel were killed in action.
