Last member of Last Man’s club in Wichita dies

? The last man in Wichita’s Last Man’s Club has died.

The group of 14 friends who had been friends since they were 5 years old had vowed to never lose touch. They were all born in 1920 and grew up in the College Hill neighborhood in Wichita.

The final member, 90-year-old Howard Babcock, was found dead Saturday in his Wichita home. His son, Kent Babcock, says his father had recently returned from trips to California and Florida and seemed in good health. The cause of death has not been determined.

The 14 friends survived the Depression, the Dust Bowl and most of them also survived World War II. They met at least once a year for dinner.

The Wichita Eagle reports that funeral services are pending.
