Third suspect convicted in 2009 Salina homicide

? The third and final defendant in the killing of a Salina man two years ago has been found guilty.

A jury deliberated less than two hours Monday before convicting 31-year-old Thomas E. Jenkins of felony murder and 10 other charges.

The Salina Journal reports that Jenkins is to be sentenced May 4.

Jenkins was charged in the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Alfred Mack Jr. during a burglary at the victim’s apartment on June 13, 2009. A prosecutor told the jury in closing arguments that Jenkins may not have pulled the trigger, but he set in motion the events that led to the shooting.

Another defendant, Travis Graham, was charged with murder but pleaded guilty in January to a reduced charge of aggravated burglary. Defendant Willie Parker was convicted last October of first-degree murder.
