Olathe ? An Olathe-based charity has announced plans to send a team of medical volunteers to Japan.

Heart to Heart International said the team leaves for Japan on Thursday. They will deliver supplies and medical aid as needed.

The nonprofit group has been organizing its response since the earthquake struck northern Japan and triggered the tsunami, killing thousands.

Heart to Heart has also prepared portable pharmacies that contain enough medicine and supplies for about 500 patients.
