Coin toss will decide Turon city council race

? A city council race in a south-central Kansas town will be decided by a coin toss.

Canvassing of primary election returns Monday did not break a tie between Billy Alumbaugh and Christine Shuler. They both received nine votes in last week’s election. The primary was designed to drop two people from the 14 candidates who ran for the council.

The Hutchinson News reports that Alumbaugh and Shuler tied for the next-to-last number of votes, so the person who wins the coin toss will go on to compete against 11 other candidates in the general election.
