Wichita Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer appears to be a strong favorite to retain his job.
Unofficial results from Tuesday’s primary show Brewer got 76 percent of the vote. District advisory board member Darrell Leffew was a distant second with 9 percent of the votes. They will compete in the April 5 general election.
One of the city’s three city council races might be decided by provisional votes. Real estate manager Charlie Stevens was the top finisher in the 2nd district race, with 30 percent of the vote. Consultant Pete Meitzner took second place, but was only 10 votes ahead of health care executive Steve Harris.
Election Commissioner Bill Gale says 88 provisional ballots were cast in Wichita. Final, official results will be known later this week.
