Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt hires former federal prosecutor Jackie Williams

? A former federal prosecutor is joining Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office in its Consumer Protection Division.

Schmidt says Jackie Williams will begin working as an assistant attorney general in July. Williams currently is Topeka’s city attorney.

Williams served 23 years as a federal prosecutor in Kansas, based mainly in Wichita. He was the U.S. attorney for Kansas from 1996 to 2001, later teaching at Wichita State University. He became Topeka city attorney in 2008.
