Third suspect sentenced in Kansas teen’s death

? The last of three codefendants has been sentenced in the killing of a suburban Kansas City woman left to die in the trunk of a car.

The Kansas City Star reported that Johnson County Judge James Franklin Davis told Joseph Mattox he did not believe the 23-year-old was a minor participant in the death of 18-year-old Keighley Alyea.

Davis sentenced Mattox on Friday in Johnson County District Court to life with no parole possible for 50 years and to almost 19 more years for kidnapping and robbery. The Overland Park man was convicted in April of charges including first-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Alyea was stabbed, beaten and choked before being left in the car trunk on Sept. 30, 2009. Her body was found about a week later in rural Cass County in Missouri.
