HALSTEAD ? An 8-year-old girl who died after being hit by a grain truck as she rode her bike has been identified as Makiya Ritthaler of Halstead.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Makiya died Monday when she was hit by the grain truck hit her as she rode her bicycle into a crosswalk. The truck, driven by a 66-year-old Mt. Hope man, was turning right at the intersection at the time.

KFDI reports that the girl died shortly after arriving at Newton Medical Center.
