Winfield ? Cowley County Administrator Leroy Alsup has resigned to accept a new job.

Alsup, who was hired for the job seven years ago, is the only full-time county administrator ever to work in Cowley County.

The Winfield Daily Courier reports that Alsup resigned Tuesday, effective July 8. He is leaving to become city manager in Catoosa, Okla., northeast of Tulsa.

County commissioners said they were surprised by the announcement.
