Wichita A house fire in Wichita killed a 75-year-old man and his 51-year-old son, who had escaped but went back into the building to try and rescue his father.
Three other people survived the fire early Tuesday in west Wichita.
Wichita authorities say they were able to pull the 51-year-old out of the house but he died at a hospital. After the fire was under control, firefighters found the 75-year-old man dead in the living room.
Authorities said in a news release that four people escaped the fire. The son went back into the house to find his father and apparently was overcome by smoke.
The fire started on the back deck of the house but a cause has not been determined. Total damage was estimated at $100,000.
