Douglas County Historical Society will host an open house Aug. 11 commemorating the Civil War.
The event features displays, presentations, tours and handouts. A new exhibit called “It Happened on Mass. Street: 150 Years in Lawrence” will also open to the public that evening.
Historical societies from across the area will be participating in the event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Watkins Community Museum of History, 1047 Mass.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the museum at 841-4109.
