July 29, 2011

— Kansas residents are invited to watch military aircraft in action next month at the Smoky Hill Air National Guard Range.

The Kansas National Guard is holding an open house Aug. 6 at the range near Salina. The event is intended to thank area communities for supporting the military training conducted there throughout the year.

Several aircraft are scheduled to conduct aerial displays, including the A-10 Thunderbolt, F-16 fighter jet and B-1 and B-52 bombers. An AH-64 Apache helicopter will be on display on the grounds.

Admission is free, and the gates open at 8 a.m.
