New general store opens up in small town of Kismet

? After nearly a year of waiting, residents of the small western town of Kismet have a new place to stop for some of life’s necessities.

The Kismet General Store officially opens Monday in the Seward County town. It’s a relief for those who have had to drive 15 miles to Liberal for a gallon of milk or other grocery items.

Owner Maria Cox says the store will offer basic groceries. It will also begin offering fuel sometime in August.

She said she bought a building on the edge of Kismet so the town’s residents don’t have to pay high gas prices to get the basic items they need.

The High Plains Daily Leader & Times reports that the date for an official grand opening has not been announced.
