Wichita forum explores urban street design

? The city of Wichita will hold a public forum this week to explore a so-called new vision for urban street design.

The forum on the “Complete Streets” concept will feature Roger Henderson, an expert on the topic. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kansas University School of Medicine in Wichita.

The “Complete Streets” concept emphasizes flexible design strategies aimed at balancing the needs and safety of all users. That includes pedestrians, the disabled, transit riders and bicyclists.

Some of the ideas are in the Wichita Downtown Master Plan.
