Abilene Quilt makers from across the country are being asked to participate in the second annual "Quilts for Valor" program sponsored by the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum.
Last year the Eisenhower center received 276 quilts from 16 states. The quilts were distributed to veterans at military hospitals, veterans' hospitals, adult care centers and to individuals who suffer from physical and emotional injuries as a result of combat service.
Eisenhower officials say they hope to collect twice as many quilts this year. Quilts will be collected until Sept. 1 and will be then placed on display at the complex in Abilene, Eisenhower's boyhood home, from Sept. 15 through Nov. 1.
