K-7 Fatality Accident

An 85-year-old Leavenworth man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon south of Lansing on Kansas Highway 7, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A KHP report said Duane F. Lindle had stopped southbound at a red light in his southbound 2008 Ford passenger car on K-7 at Fairmont Road about 1:15 p.m. when his vehicle was rear-ended by a 1998 Toyota car that failed to yield.

The driver of the Toyota, 55-year-old Jo Anne Parker of Lansing, was injured and taken to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., according to the KHP.

Both drivers wore their seat belts.

Isn't this the intersection where traffic lights were installed not too long ago to help avoid situations like this? Either way, sad news. Thoughts go out to the families involved. :'(
