Pat Roberts, Jerry Moran introduce resolution to recognize Kansas’ 150th birthday

? U.S. Sens. Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran have sponsored a resolution asking the rest of the nation to take note of the 150 years of Kansas statehood.

The two Kansas Republicans introduced their measure Wednesday in Washington to mark the state’s birthday on Jan. 29, 1861.

In their resolution, the senators note the quality of people who have settled Kansas and served the nation in times of peace and war. They note that President Dwight D. Eisenhower grew up in Kansas before he took an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy and went on to lead Allied forces during World War II.

Roberts and Moran also asked in their measure that Kansans reflect on their history and strive to continue to work for freedom and individual liberty.
