Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger names Zachary Anshutz chief attorney, Jim Welch consumer assistance director

? Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger has named a new chief attorney and a new consumer assistance director. The previous staffers accepted jobs with the attorney general’s office.

Praeger has appointed Zachary Anshutz as general counsel for the Insurance Department. Anshutz was an attorney for the department from 2006 to 2010, when he became an associate general counsel for the State Board of Healing Arts.

In the Insurance Department, Anshutz replaces John Campbell, who has become chief deputy attorney general for Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

Former Insurance Department consumer assistance director Jim Welch has joined the attorney general’s office as head of the consumer protection division.
