? Trial postponed for teacher accused of sex charges

McPHERSON, Kan. (AP) — The trial has been postponed for a former McPherson High School teacher and coach accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl.

The Hutchinson News reports that the 25-year-old teacher was scheduled to stand trial Thursday in McPherson County District Court, but that the trial was postponed, and a new trial date has not been scheduled.

The suspect faces four counts of unlawful sexual relations with a student and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor for illicit purposes.

The suspect was an English, journalism and yearbook teacher and boys and girls soccer coach. He is no longer employed at the high school.

He has been free on $10,000 bond.

The Journal-World generally does not name suspects in sex crimes unless they have been convicted.
