Olathe man sentenced to prison for fatal accident

? An Olathe man who was drunk and driving nearly 100 mph before an accident that killed two of his friends has been sentenced to almost nine years in prison.

Nineteen-year-old Benjamin Denham was sentenced Thursday in Johnson County District Court for the March 16, 2010, accident in Overland Park. He pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter.

Police say his blood-alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit when his car hit a power pole, clipped a garage, rolled and burst into flames.

The Kansas City Star reports that a passerby pulled Denham from the wreck, but 18-year-old Matthew T. Honea and 17-year-old Andrew Riddell, both of Olathe, were killed.
