Pittsburg State adds new tower for rappelling

? Pittsburg State University has added a new tower for rappelling.

The school says the structure will be used to train about 90 ROTC students for careers in the military. The tower is an $80,000 gift from a group of donors.

The tower replaces an aging, dilapidated tower across campus.

Pittsburg State President Steve Scott says the relationship between the Army ROTC and the campus is strong.

He says that while ROTC programs at some other universities have declined because of a lack of interest or support, Pittsburg State’s Gorilla Battalion has grown stronger.
