Pittsburg State University dealing with housing crunch

? Some students are finding it difficult to secure housing at Pittsburg State this fall.

University officials attribute the high demand to a multimillion dollar effort to improve the university’s living areas.

University housing official Steve Erwin says the school’s nine residence halls have room for more than 1,300 students. Last school year, the university had a record 1,201 students living in its residence halls.

Other factors include a program approved in 2010 that offered in-state tuition to students from seven nearby counties in Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
